Here at Off Book we’re trying out something new. We want to have an opportunity to get together with Actors and Directors outside of a work setting. We want to meet new actors and directors. We also want to have a bit of fun. That’s why this October we’re launching our Shakespeare Social.
Shamelessly ripping off an idea from a famous film director we want to get actors together in a social setting to read Shakespeare plays aloud. We think it’ll be a good way for us all to get to know Shakespeare’s work better and to get to know other creatives in an formal setting. We’ll decide on a script and everyone attending will draw character names out of a hat. Once we’ve got our roles we’ll settle down and read through the script aloud and together. No pressure, no audience, just friends in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our first social will be at our base in Melrose Hall, Hoylake on Sunday October 25th at 2pm. We’ll have juice, teas and coffees available but if you’d like to bring your own drinks you’re more than welcome. We’ll also be trying to lay on a few snacks, but again if you’d like to bring some then please do.
The event is going to be absolutely free, but we are asking that people consider making a donation toward the Hall and the cost of printing scripts. The donation is absolutely optional and could be as little or as much as you like.
If all that sounds like your thing then pop along to Eventbrite and let us know you’ll be there https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/shakespeare-social-tickets-27477111781. The event is open to any professional actor, director or producer who is interested in coming along. If you’ve got any questions, don’t be afraid to ask us firstname.lastname@example.org
